I’ve always found the differences between a script and its final film interesting. While I originally started reading scripts to see how specific moments translated to the screen, what I enjoy most now are the parts that changed. Discovering scenes that were cut, shifted, or reimagined has helped me understand the craft better and shown me how important collaboration is when making art.
I’m sharing some of these observations in a small Instagram series, looking at scripts I’ve read and reflecting on how those changes may have helped or hurt the final product.
If that kind of behind-the-scenes storytelling interests you, you’re welcome to follow along.
(These scripts were part of my National Screenwriter's Day post, which also introduced The Film That Almost Was series. They aren't part of the series, just scripts I really enjoyed reading.)
